Verification of measuring instruments

Verification of a measuring instrument is a procedure (other than type approval) which includes the examination and marking and/or issuing of a verification certificate, that ascertains and confirms that the measuring instrument complies with the statutory requirements.

Verification of measuring instruments is a set of operations performed by the bodies of the State Metrological Service (other authorized bodies, organizations) in order to confirm the conformity of the measuring instrument with established metrological requirements.

The purpose of verification is to find out whether the characteristics of the measuring instrument correspond to the regulated values and whether it is suitable for use for its intended purpose.

Verification of measuring instruments is understood as the establishment by the body of the metrological service (or other officially authorized body, organization) of the suitability of measuring instruments for use on the basis of experimentally determined metrological characteristics and confirmation of their compliance with mandatory requirements.
